Taking oil of oregano, coconut oil daily?
Question: Taking oil of oregano, coconut oil daily?
Hi, I’ve been taking natural herbs and vitamins to help fight my candida/adult acne and its been helping alot. Its also helping with food sensitivities/acne breakouts.
In the morning I take a containerful of psyllium husk powder with a teaspoon of bentonite clay to clean the colon.
Then after lunch and dinner I take a containerful of extra virgin coconut oil and a drop of oil of oregano.
My question is, does doing any of this each single day cause any long term harm? I know coconut oil and psyllium husk is innocuous for regularly intake but my concern is oil of oregano and bentonite clay.
Thanks!

Varying answer on the betonite clay. I certainly wouldn’t use it long-term. Animals and humans have been poisoned by chronic ingestion of Bentonite clay. Side effect includes muscle pain, muscle rheumatism, muscle weakness and lethargy, along with hypokalemia (an abnormally low concentration of potassium in the blood) and iron deficiency resulting in a type of anemia. It is also doable that Bentonite clay can come from a toxic dump.
Oil of oregano should be a absolutely organic, innocuous product for you to ingest.

Hey, Sarah Here,
Don’t know about Bentonite clay…but the Oregano Oil is safe to take daily. My aunt uses it when she feels a cold coming on (actually, my cousins do as well)..they put 2-3 drops under their tongue and hold it there until it burns too bad then rinse their mouths out. The oil does absorb into the skin there and work to clear up respiratory symptoms and kill mincroorganisms and such. I can’t hold it in my mouth like that due to the strong odor/taste…LOL So I’ve been putting actually about 10 drops into a tea I made (which also includes apple cider vinegar, grapefruit seed extract and echineacia) to clear up the reminents of a sinus infection I have that isn’t being helped by Rx antibiotics.
I don’t think you should take as much as me, being sick, but I know other people who take 1-3 drops in tea/other drinks every day as a health supplement/defense against getting sick.
As far as side effects/interactions: longterm use *can have some gastrointestinal side effects/irritation. But it’s rare and if you experience cramping/diarrhea/nausea or anything like that, simply stop taking the oregano oil.
There are some drug interactions: diabetic medications, anticoagulants, and horemone therapies may all have interactions or oregano oil may increase the action of such drugs so if you’re taking anything like that then watch out.
Pregnant/breastfeeding women shouldn’t take oregano oil.
That’s all I’ve heard of, so in most cases…taking oregano oil long-term should be fine, but you may mention it to your doctor the next time you go in for a check-up just to make sure…and make sure your doctor knows you are taking it in case some random symptom shows up and they can’t figure out what’s doing it.
I tell my doctor any supplement/herbal remedy I’m using…even if they say it’s stupid or doesn’t work, just so they know what I’m taking.
Sounds like a good plan but bentonite may not be necessary as a daily supplement. When you use it however you should also drink lots and lots of water. If you want to kill Candida you will need to take much more oil of oregano – 15-30 drops at least, I would increase the dose slowly by 1 drop per day. If you have mercury amalgam in your teeth (silver fillings) then the Candida yeast are actually protecting you from toxic heavy metal overload. If you have them removed by a biological dentist then your Candida will go away naturally with this treatment. Increasing your Vitamin A to 30,000 IU per day will also eliminate or dramatically reduce acne. Because soap is alkaline and skin is acid I wouldn’t use soap on my face with acne because the bacteria grow too fast on skin that isn’t acidic. You can mix a tbsp of apple cider vinegar in 4 oz of water and clean your face with a sponge or pad – the AC vinegar cuts grease, nourishes the skin, tones it and keeps it acidic so no bacteria grows and causes secondary infection. Good luck
