Is fragrance in face cleansers bad for your skin?

Question: Is fragrance in face cleansers bad for your skin?
I have the St. Ives Apricot Cleanser Blemish Fighting, and at first I thought the smell came from the micro beads in the cleanser, like the blemish fighter thing or whatever. Like I thought it was the natural smell of it or something, but last night I read the ingredients and it has fragrance in it, and I was a tiny worried because I heard that fragrance in cleansers is bad? This is my first time trying a St. Ives cleanser, I accidently grabbed the wrong one I was suppose to get the exfoliator but the new packaging threw me off..

My skin isn’t that sensitive and I have combination and acne prone skin, if that matters.

Thanks in advance (:

I doubt it.
The cleanser I use at night has fragrance in it, but my skin feels fine.
If you’re really worried about it, test it first on your skin at night and next morning, if it feels and looks ok try it out on your face.

Good luck~

the fragrance shouldn’t bother you unless you have highly sensative skin. st. ives is one of the best facial scrubs/exfoliating product on the market, has been for years. you should be fine.

It shouldn’t affect your skin badly.
I would use it and if after 2 or 3 times you feel iching you can change it. Our bodies are so great at “talking” to us when something isn’t right.
Don’t worry, You will know if it’s not for you.

    Hope it helps

I have also used At. lves Apricot Cleanser. It really refreshes the skin. Fragrance would not harm your skin..You would really like it.

I have to disagree with the other comments.
If you have combination acne prone skin, it is just as important to avoid fragranced products as sensitive skin types.

I work for dermatologists and they always reccomend that all skin types, especially acne prone and sensitive skin avoid anything that foam/lather.

You should use something gentle that doesnt lather or contain fragrances. Fragrances will irritate your acne prone skin further, and lathering cleansers will dry your skin out, which in turn will make your skin go into panic mode and overproduce oil, which creates your oily/combination skin acne issues.

They always reccomend a cleanser such as Cetaphil Gentle skin Cleanser which you can buy from all pharmacies.

Good luck – and remember – the more fragrances and foaming – the worse it is for your skin. :)

I think St. Ives use only natural fragrances, extracted from apricots, so they wouldn’t harm your skin. If your skin isn’t sensitive, a fragrance in a cleanser won’t affect it. :)

yes. if you look it on google you should find its what bringsd out redness and pimples. You should try a ’simple’ face scrub, face wash, face toner and cleanser etc. they use no chemicals, perfumes or colours. its brilliant xx
