eating good foods and natural skin care: does it REALLY work to help with acne or is it just a scam?
Question: intake good foods and natural skin care: does it REALLY work to help with acne or is it just a scam?
i have had acne for 7 years now and well i’m sick of it. i have tried hundreds of products, perception creams and pills to help get rid of my acne and nothing has worked. lately i’ve been researching into clearing my skin up naturally. by drinking half my weight in oz a day of water, no dairy, cut back on bread and wheat, and consume lots of fruits and vegetables with plenty of regularly exercise. and also with skin care by using nothing with harsh chemicals or sulfates and basically not putting anything on my face that has an ingredient that i wouldn’t place in my mouth. if these methods of naturally clearing up acne work than i think the effort would be more than worth it but is it a scam? after all dermatologists state food has no link to acne and the best way to treat it is with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. please help!

There are plenty of studies showing a link between food and acne — not in all cases but if people have food sensitivies it can manifest in skin condition like acne

If you’ve already tried topical treatments and haven’t seen any results, it can’t injured to change your intake patterns for a few weeks to see if there is any change in your skin.
There are various causes of acne – hormonal (which is when they usually give you birth control pills to clear it up), bacterial (which benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid or antiobiotics can help) or dietary. Because there are many causes and cures you often have to try several different treatments to see what works best for you

Hey, Sarah Here,
Yes it can. The problem with acne is that there are many different things that can cause it. I recently learned of a new cause I was unaware of. Yeast. Systemic yeast infections (coming from within, permeating your body via blood), trying to vacate the body through the skin. People live with systemic yeast infections and don’t even know it.
Skin is interesting in that if your liver is overwhelmed with more than normal debris and toxins it is always trying to eliminate from the body, or sick itself, the skin will take up the slack. Your body will try to eliminate toxins through the skin. This is why eating good foods helps tremendously with decreasing acne. If the liver is working optimally, the skin does not have to take up the slack. If you’re not constantly bombarding your body with poor foods, the liver has more energy to do what it does normally. Drinking lots of water lets your kidneys help cleanse the debris out of your blood as well. It also filtrates waste material from your body.
Keep in mind, when a skin cell is born below your skin surface, it has a lifecycle of about 4 weeks before it surfaces and is finally sloughed off. Whenever you “try something out” to see if it helps your skin (and it’s not something topical).. like starting to eat very good food…it’ll be 4 weeks before you see a true difference. So you have to give it at least that much time before you decide whether it’s working or not.
