bump under my arm????
Question: bump under my arm????
There is a bump in the side of my armpit. it nearly looks like the very beginning stage of a cystic pimple. I don’t think it’s a pimple, i searched the world wide web and found out it’s probably a lymph node, which is usually caused by your body fighting off an infection. However, i dont think i have an infection anywhere. I’m currently taking an herbal acne medicine, could that have anything to do with it?
The bump is less than a half inch wide. It just started hurting today, usually when i extend my arm up, or near on the bump.
What should i do? Will it go away on its own??
by the way, i’m 19 years old and i’ve never had anything like this happen before.
Should i place anything on it to make it go away faster? like neosporin maybe??

It might be staph infection. I get them each once in a while and I generally pop them like a pimple. I have to work at it for a few days to form a head, but once you get it started it will all eventually work itself out. There will be a huge painful core at the base of it that hurts when it comes out. I would recommend going to a physician if this is your first one.

Hey, Sarah Here,
that could be something really serious. the lymph nodes could be inflammed for a variety of reasons. I don’t want to scare you but that is often where breast and lymph node cancer. It could be some thing minor but you ought to have doctor look at it.

I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean or over weight and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there if you are looking.

If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.
It’s better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, bikini line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rubs against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.

I am open for questions!
I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, and it was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long as I did.
Currently I have 5, 2 next to each other on my right inner groin. 2 in my upper HAIR area, and 1 med sized on my **** on the panty line, and they do come every week or so. I find that certain foods, not having a regular showering regimen, wearing clothing that irritates the area.. And STRESS usually is a precursor to getting one.
and YES thongs and TIGHT jeans will definately irratate the area… when I have some I can only wear slacks or strechy pants…. ughhhhhhhhhhh!!
I would soak a cotton ball in WITCH HAZEL and chill watching TV, Leave it on there with a small ammount of pressure for as long as u can. ( Last night the one in my leg, I sat and watched the WIRE , which is an hour solid long) and when it was over I applied my topical gel.. by the morning the thing poped by itself!
I also prefer to use NEXCARE bandages.. There are 2 kinds I like for comfort and stay put reasons..
The first is like a clear band aid…. soft on the edges with a small area of bandage… helps with those buggers when they are on bikini line.. Usually stay for me.. Or occasionally on my inner thigh for those I like the foamy sponge like ones that are beige in color.. I think they are 3M.
