Question: Natural Remedies For Severe Acne?
I’ve gone to the Dermatologist 2 times now, and am on Minocycline for my second time and using RETIN-A. It’s been about a month now and nothing is helping. I don’t want to know some good soaps or anything, just something I can take by mouth or apply to my skin that you KNOW will work. Thx.

First of all retin a does not always work. Sometimes it does more harm than good.
Ask your Dr. for Differen. It works superior than Retin A. The strongest acne medication is Accutane.
Now for the natural stuff-
Few ppl know this but dandelion is great for your skin. It’s an herb, not a weed. There is a recipe to use dandelion for a skin product which I don’t remember and would have to look it up. It also has properties to bleach the skin.
Lavender and witch hazel are also good herbs for skin care.
Now after washing your face apply salicylic acid maximum strength and then place on maximum strength benzoyl peroxide. All can be purchased at any wal mart, walgreens, or drug store as well as witch hazel.

Mine is not severe but I started washing with pure Olive Oil soap from Kiss My Face and moisturizing with coconut oil. It has helped with the acne and my face just looks better. You could give this a try for a while to give your face a rest from the chemicals. It could get overloaded from all that stuff.

For me the best change was changing to organic. I never had severe acne but I have always been breaking out or had irritation. If you have tried everything out there like many have it will be a huge change for your skin. What I have found that works best for me:
Making sure I wash my face with a castile soap base. Castile soap is a mix of organic oilve, coconut, and jojoba oils. The wash I get has rosemary,burdock, red cover, flower water, and lemon.
I always use a toner. I am using a lemon flower water now. For acne it would be good to use something with witch hazel, tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar(worked well for me)
After toning I always use an serum(oil). It has calendula,rosehip, rosemary, emu and some other oils.
Once a week I use a french green clay mask
once a week I do a scrub. I have been making my own with organic sugar, coconut oil, honey, neem oil, and some other oils.
I do not like to or have the money to go out and spend a lot of money so I either make my own or I buy from mountian rose herbs.
make sure you are looking to see what is in the products.
tea tree oil, red clover, burdock, lavender, horsetail,chaparral, yellow dock, and many others are good for acne.
All the answers are great and I agree, but one thing I’ve found to help my daughter and myself out the most is a green tea warming mask we bought from BeautiControl. We use the whole skin care line, but the mask has helped us tremendously with breakouts. We use it with a little bit of the face wash and rub it in, it warms up with water and it heals the break outs usually over night. They say Green Tea is really good for acne.
Also make sure your not eating a lot of sugar and sugar filled products. Sugar wreaks havoc on the immune system and face
Mine isn’t severe, but I use tea trea oil. I dab a little on acne and itchy spots including bug bites and cuts and it works. It’s gotten rid of some of my lighter scars too. The smell is a little pungent, but I got use to it. The oil (which isn’t oily) is a natural antiseptic from the Australian tea tree. Supposedly, the natives used the tree oil to disenfect wounds.
There are herbal medicines that will help treat acne. You must go to your local licensed naturopath to have one prescribed. You should also be under the care of a licensed qualified naturopath who will investigate your entire medical history while taking all of the supplements listed below.
As far as diet, I am sure that you know that your diet should be rich in ocean fish, organic eggs, tofu, quinoa, orange vegetables and green leafy vegetables, beets, apples, etc.
In terms of supplemental vitamins, those used to treat severe acne are: chrome [400 mcg a day], vitamin A [50,000 IU once a day for 3 days], zinc [45 mg a day], a B-complex vitamin and added B6 [50 - 199 mg a day] probiotic capsules [1 to 3 capsules a day] and Vitamin E.
Externally, you can use vitamin E oil on your face and you can also crush B6 tablets and put them on your face with oil or cream.
I have been using lemon juice to control breakouts, a thin layer patted on the skin & maybe extra dabs on the blemish spots. Do it after cleaning your face before going to bed & don’t put moisturizer on top.
